The gaming reviews community was rocked by the Jeff Gerstmann firing at the end of November 2007. Several rival websites, including this one
spout still-unfounded rumors about his firing due to Kane and Lynch's publishers being prominent GameSpot advertisers. The site was also rocked by one of the site's best reviewers, Alex Navarro, leaving just a few weeks later on his own accord.. Over the next few days, GameSpot forums lit up about how they would never return, citing journalistic integrity. Yet the site has not suffered at all, one might even argue that it is growing. As you can see on the Alexa chart, the overall reach has slightly risen since the firing of Gerstmann. Go figure.
